Network issue impacting some of our customers Tuesday 13th August 2024 10:05:00

During an emergency reboot last evening (12/08/2024 at 22h00) on the peering platform BNIX (managed by Belnet), an issue arose with Belnet's connection to this platform. We rebooted the switch after recommendations by the hardware vendor (in order to resolve a known bug) and we seemed to have stepped on another bug, this time impacting filters on the platform. The malfunctioning of this filter resulted in unreachability of some select destinations for the customers who were routed towards these destinations via the faulty switch. After troubleshooting by the technical teams at BNIX, we were able to correct the issue at 23h45. We are now working diligently with the hardware vendor to come up with an action plan to resolve this issue permanently without or with the least amount of impact. We will do this in a controlled way and with the proper communication. The reboot of the switch last night was not deemed to have an impact on Belnet customers but due to this unexpected new issue, it has. We apologize for this incident and take it up with the highest priority

The BNIX Technical team has successfully finished the maintenance. The issue was isolated and fixed in under an hour and without any impact for Belnet customers or BNIX particpants. The required logs were gathered to be poured over by us and the vendor. We have again a stable situation and would like to thank you for your continued trust in our services and our people

Dear customers, we are planning another maintenance window on the BNIX platform tonight, 13/08, at 22:00 CEST, we will perform a maintenance on our s3.bruzav switch. This maintenance is necessary for troubleshooting purposes related to the last incident. We will redirect all Belnet traffic in a controlled way before beginning the work. No impact on Belnet customers is to be expected.
